Linden Grill

Owner/operator, Alfonso L. Mack, opened Linden Grill & Grocery in the summer of 2000, with a vision of preparing freshly cooked food with the fast food concept. Alfonso was self taught after spending numerous hours in the kitchen with his grandmother and mom. He spent several hours in the kitchen taste testing and dissecting family recipes. Alfonso actually started his cooking career in college while playing on the basketball team. Often, after late night practices, most of the campus eateries were closed and Alfonso would whip up some quick meals for the basketball and football players. After a few weeks of serving late night sandwiches to a bunch of hungry athletes, Mack's Kitchen was born. After graduating from college with a business degree Alfonso was uncertain what career path he wanted to take. With business being such a broad spectrum in the world of worlds, Alfonso saw plenty of job potentials but nothing that intrigued his career minded aspirations like cooking. Alfonso loved the company of family and friends but nothing compared to the pleasure he received watching them enjoy one of his fresh dishes. After finally coming to the conclusion, that he loved seeing people enjoy his food as much as he loved preparing it for them, it was a no brainer what he wanted to do for a career. June 26,2000 Alfonso finally put his plan into action when he opened up Linden Grill & Grocery at 1418 Linden, South Bend, IN. with the help of his wife La Conda and brother Charles and also a second location at 4333 W. Western Ave South Bend IN.Their goal was to serve only the finest products available and have them prepared fresh. After developing a technique to achieve this, as they say, "THE REST IS HISTORY".
