Everything was delicious, but the entrees were not so great. Our server never came by to ask how everything was. It was busy, but still could have asked.
Dining area is not lite sufficiently. Had to use phone flashlight to see and communicate to husband menu choices.

It was lovely! The atmosphere had a vintage Italian vibe but the food was modern and fresh. We went early and had no trouble getting seated although we made reservations. There was a small, active bar area with flat screens and pub tables.

The wait staff was very attentive. The food was very good. If you want to watch a sporting event, there is a section of seating with a bar for that. If you want a quiet meal, there is a large dining room for that. It is located a bit too far away for us to come back to regularly. Glad we had a coupon.

My husband and I usually get their chicken piccata. It's always very good. I decided to try another dish which was Pollo Sorrento. What a great dish. It had chicken topped with eggplant & mozzarella as well as prosciutto. It was really good. I know what I will have next time.

I always know I am going to get good food and good service
We met friends that we have not seen for a while. We felt bad for taking a table up for quite a while. Wait staff told us not to worry and were exceptional

We got veal Parmesan. It was awful. Very hard to cut. It did not taste like a good cut of veal. We told the waitress and she said she would tell the chef. We thought maybe they would compensate with s drink or even a dessert. Nothing was done.

The food was good but not great. The waitress was pleasant, but that could not compensate for the many problems. The salad arrived before the appetizer because the stuffed mushrooms would take another 10 minutes. We had to ask for the bread, which we had looked forward to. Then we waited 30-45 minutes for our entrées. The seared scallops risotto were neither seared nor risotto. They were kind of steamed and came with roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables. The waitress brought really seared scallops and risotto and offered to wrap the mistake meal. (I took the 5 steamed scallops and will add them to a stew.) The spumoni with claret sauce was wonderful spumoni, but the so-called claret sauce was merely a red color on the plate. Perhaps the crowds were because Super bowl was the next day - the restaurant was crowded; it was impossible to get a parking space for a 7pm reservation, but there was plenty of staff serving, cleaning up used tables, so the restaurant could not be faulted for lack of preparation. We did learn that we should not attempt to go on a Saturday.
This restaurant is top notch being south of Boston. We have had far better experience than this last time. I would blame the chef for this trip. Had the same meal including the appetizer and the last time was far better.
The food was very good and the portion sizes were excellent. The waitstaff was very attentive and made sure our water glasses were full at all times. Bread was plentiful and dirty dishes were removed quickly.
We were in an awful area of the restaurant, in a corner, which would have been fine, except they had a large table of 8 right on top of us. We couldn't even adjust our seats for comfort. It was very crowded and hot, because someone turned the heat up. The entire experience was affected by this. We go to Porticello's fairly regularly, and this was the worst. There were plenty of other tables that we could have been seated at, because the restaurant was not busy. I did request a certain table, but not if eight people were going to be surrounding us, making it impossible to move our chairs to be comfortable. Just a bad experience. Quality of food was not great this time, and the inexperienced assistants to the server , though very sweet, need more experience before they assist.

I ordered the pan seared scallops with butternut risotto. There were not many scallops and they were small. I was very disappointed! The proprieter and chef need to rethink this. For the price, there were not enough scallops and a place like Porticello should NOT be serving small scallops. They should only purchase large ones. We were offered a complimentary dessert by our server, which was very nice, but the dish itself needs to be better. I've had it before and there were few scallops as well.
Mike at the bar makes terrific drinks. The food was outstanding as always.

They should close off the bar area totally from main dining area. Our server, Pollyanna is beyond awesome! Very attentive, caring, upbeat, a STAR!!! Mario very welcoming!
Haven't been there for a long time. Food and service were great, people were nice and personable. Nicer experience than I remember from before. New management? New servers? New 'front of the store'? Great time...we'll be back.
A large party arrived about 20 minutes after we sat. They had a few small children that were running about the restaurant. That dampened our relaxing dinner.

I like dark restaurants but we actually had difficulty reading the menu and the receipt. The dark corners really need a little more that a candle on the table.

I had an issue where my meal tasted "funny". They whisked the meal away and asked me what I would like to order as a replacement. No questions asked - that's how it should be. I reordered gnocchi and was pleased with my choice. My husband got the lobster ravioli and really enjoyed it. Megan was a wonderful server.

Believe me, I appreciate a cool restaurant, but thought it was a little too cold in the bar area.
Everyone was professional and pleasant. Water glass was refilled often, waiter checked back to be sure all was good, no one was intrusive, just "doing their job" the way it should be done. I had the "special" scrod - it was incredible!

Too dark to read the menu
The service was great. The food was good. The carpeting and murals need to go since it's a bit dated/hokey. Cocktail, of which we had one apiece, was good and the bread was warm. One problem. The front door is a step up and there is no warning as you're departing. I twisted my ankle/foot and since the front door isn't glass, nobody noticed. Thank goodness my hubby was there to catch me. I sat on the front steps for ten minutes to catch my breath and am headed to the doctor this morning. I suggest that they alert diners to the steep drop.

The serving of Chicken Parm I had was cooked perfectly, great flavor and large enough portion that I had some left over for next day's lunch. My husband was disappointed in his Fisherman's Platter. The portion was skimpy and the price was high for fried seafood, plus it did not come with French fries (he had to pay extra for a side dish that was 8-10 fries).
Food, table and atmosphere were very good. Servings were plentiful, well presented and delicious. Bus boys were terrific. Waiter was generally obnoxious. Had to be constantly reminded re additional silverware, and hovered inappropriately while bill was being reviewed Bus boys had excellent manner and were very professional. Will not be back for awhile.

terrible service. Chix parm was supposed to be sauceless with cavatelli, came with spaghetti and sauce. Steak was supposed to be med, came med rare, chix marsala was supposed to be over cavatelli, came with spaghetti on side with sauce (was ordered without sauce). by the time the cavatelli came, all other diners were finished. also, drinks took forever to come. pear salad was average. clam chowder bland.
Great waitress. Scallops overcooked and chicken with eggplant was mostly chicken breast and lacked the flavor of eggplant which is why I selected this.
We were sitting outside of a small function room that contained two larger parties. The noise coming from that room was so loud we could not speak or hear our own friends. We did talk to management and they did try to address the situation. However, one suggestion I have is that they put some kind of French doors up to cut out the noise from that function room. That would solve everyone's problem.

over 30 minutes from order placement to receipt, then got the wrong order (waitress apologized profusely). Redid the correct order and while rushing from the kitchen to get me the right meal 15-20 minutes later the wait staff collided, and almost dropped the food in my lap. More funny than anything else. The collided with waiter was rushing and the food almost dropped was my replacement dinner.
Problem. But fix and made better by the owners.

Our waitress seldom came by to check if we needed anything. This was a Saturday evening after 8pm with the restaurant side half full. We were seated right near the bus station and were ignored by the bus staff when more water was requested. My dining companion got bumped into by the staff several times throughout our time there and she is a small 100 lb. person. We were dressed nicely and well groomed, so why we were seated in a cramped corner is beyond our imagination. Meanwhile about 40 feet away bar area patrons were grabbing each other, hooting and hollering as restaurant staff hung out with them. So much for this restaurant's 'fine' dining reputation.

I really enjoyed the seafood fradiavlo I had but I am a real lover of Mexican White shrimp.........black tiger just does not have the flavor or the tenderness that Mexican Whites do and I think it would bring the seafood dishes at Porticello up a notch if they would make that change........I would pay a little more for the difference and an educated diner would too I think.

Because it's an older established restaurant (and is better known for it's bar vs. its food), I think it is somewhat underrated! We had the chicken-fried steak with corn, mashed potatoes, & a roll - best ever (and a great price). I continue to purchase coupons through restaurant.com and have never been disappointed yet!!
We loved that the chef made filet pizziola and it was not on the menu and that you can substitute pasta in place of potato and vegetable. Nice touch. Bread and oil with spices great way to start a meal.
The selection of fish in the seafood fra diavolo was varied and well cooked. The sauce was very flavorfull with a distinct clam base.The dish could have used about 5-10% more pasta underneath, and the pasta could have been hotter in temperature when served.

Nice atmosphere. Menu had a good variety of entrees. My husband ordered a filet mignon cooked medium rare, and it was prepared exactly the way he wanted it. Our experience has been that few restaurants know how to cook a steak or roast beef medium rare; usually comes out well done. This chef is to be commended for preparing food exactly as the customer requests. Our waitress, Pollyanna, was very friendly and helpful - answering all our questions and making sure the food arrived in a timely manner. We had a very enjoyable meal.

The food was horrible. The service (waitress) was wonderful, it was very clean, easy to get to location and atmosphere was very good. We had been patrons there for years and went back to once again enjoy their wonderful food, but it was bla and odd tasting.I could not eat my meal. I don't know what happened (??)
While we always enjoy our meals. We also took a entree from the menu to take home, I was very disapointed on how small the portion of the lasagna was. I will not be ordering that again.
The calamari was very rubbery.Aside from that, the entrees were fine.A little pricy without the discount.
We arrived at 7:30 p.m. on a Saturday night. They had run out of bread so we had to wait for that. We did not get served until after 8:15. They had a large party there, and they are not equipped to handle that and their regular diners. Very nice server, however had to ask for refills on water. It is also very noisy. They need to do something about the acoustics.
Our server was not attentive and forgot things we asked for. He seemed bothered when we asked for things. The was no cappuccino at the end of the meal as the milk frother was evidently broken. No refill on the coffee was offered. The entrees were quite good, though. Sadly the experience was not.

I ordered the bolognese which is one of my favorites! The pappadelle with the sauce is outstanding. The shrimp scampi appetizer was great, the sauce required us to get extra bread so we didn't leave a drop on the plate.

We both ordered the filet mignon with the blue cheese topping and it was wonderful. We ate at the bar and had excellent serice. They have a very nice wine menu also. We highly recommend Porticello.

When you ask for well done calamari, you should get it that way, had to return again. This is not the first time this has happened.
Everything was good. Our server was good but it was very busy. We waited quite a while for our dinner..and then had to leave before getting dessert and coffee as noone came back to take our order and it got late. We did enjoy everything though!

We were tired and wanted to relax at the bar and have a nice dinner. The bartender was excellent, (Tues. 10/16/12), he paced our meal perfectly. The owner stopped by, was very friendly and made us feel at home.
There really is no need to go to Federal Hill in RI. This will be our new Italian restaurant from now on. Simply amazing!!!

Just guessing on the bill. A friend took me out for a birthday celebration. Everything was excellent as always. HAving the coupon made it a top choice

Our wait time for our food was longer than usual , two other tables that came in after us were served before us , it was a good half hour after our salads that our meal came .
We made a reservation butstill had to wait over a half hour for our table, if the hostess had been up front about the length of the wait I would have eaten at the bar.
We loved Porticello. We went out for my oldest daughter's birthday. My youngest daughter attends Stonehill, therefore this was a perfect place! The food and service both were terrific.
Great quality Italian cuisine...enjoyable!
